The artist Emil Staggemeier aka By Staggemeier was born in 1994 and throughout his youth has been immensely captivated by art, and graffiti in particular has made an impression on the young artist. Staggemeier tries to give his works a minimalist and raw expression with occasional lines and elements from the graffiti world with acrylic paints, charcoal, ink and pastel chalk. The graffiti part in Staggemeier’s artworks is made known by the very easily recognizable signature, which almost functions as a kind of “tag” and thus becomes part of the painting’s expression and wholeness.

Staggemeier wants to give the spectator an experience, without telling too much. The popular motif “BUSY PEOPLE” depicts people looking at each other. Here the spectator is allowed to make his own interpretation of what people do and feel.

Staggemeier has grown up in a family that has traveled extensively, which has given him an understanding of other cultures and even expresses that much of his inspiration and curiosity for other people comes from there.
